May 17, 2017: Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A becomes an International City of Peace!

The 163RD CITY: Ashland, Oregon, U.S.A. has proclaimed itself an International City of Peace. This development offers a wonderful case study on how cities can elevate working toward a culture of peace to an official government commission. The Ashland Culture of Peace Commission, the brainchild of leader David Wick and his colleagues, is to be celebrated not only in Ashland but throughout the world.

Peace needs to be a collaboration between grassroots and government with all sectors of society, from the arts to education, becoming involved and making practical actions for building a more peaceful society. Please congratulate David, the Ashland City Council, and the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission. Thank you all!
