477th International City of Peace
Rising from Extreme Hardship to Inspiration

REFUGEES ARE LIKE YOU AND ME. “I love standing in front of the world for children with disabilities.’ Victoire Murekerende is a mother of a child with Down syndrome in the Nakivale Refugee Camp. Living in Isanijya Village in Nakivale, Victoire is a child rights activist, self-motivated, hardworking woman with accounting and financial skills, twelve years of experiences in commercial banks and always supporting children with disabilities and their families. Writing to us upon joining the association of International Cities of Peace, she love “being the voice for the voiceless.” Victoire is just like you and me — only Victoire lives in a camp, in a tent where children are constantly at risk. Could be you, could be me. Be safe, Victoire, and take advantage of the platform of International Cities of Peace to bring help and hope to children.
