A LIGHTED CANDLE.
By J. Frederick Arment, Chair, Lead Facilitator, International Cities of Peace
Please join me in standing up to darkness this week. Think of what the ancient world was like without candles. Think of the future when humans look back on this time without peace. We need an image to show our yearning for light in our darkness. Imaginer Martin Bonadero has started a movement to light our phones and desktops with a simple, non-divisive image: A lighted candle for the United Nations International Day of Peace, the week of September 21st. “No words. No logos. No political or religious associations. Just a candle.” I, for one, am lit up all week. That’s my phone. That’s my computer. Please join me. Here is where you can find the image in multiple formats: https://essaysforpeace.com/ Light has a way of being pervasive in ways untold.
