Beaverton HeartSpot is part of the Heartfulness Institute, a global nonprofit dedicated to heart-based meditation. Established in Canada in 1974, Heartfulness has grown to many centres nationwide and over 160 countries worldwide, with the main Canadian centre in Toronto. At HeartSpots, seekers can explore meditation with guidance from certified trainers, making support accessible anytime, anywhere. Since moving to Beaverton in 2016, Negin has established this small rural community as a Canadian HeartSpot, offering free meditation sessions both in person and online. Beaverton also joins the Community of Hearts, a network across Canada and the US that hosts a daily 15-minute Universal Intention for Peace at 9:00 PM ET. Open to all, these sessions help reduce stress, build emotional resilience, and nurture inner peace. Peacefulness, a new Heartfulness initiative, promotes unity, transformation, and optimism in action. Much like environmental pollution, it emphasizes how our thoughts also shape the world around us. As energy, thoughts influence who we are, what we do, and how we impact others. By cultivating positive thoughts, we create beneficial change within ourselves and in our environment. Through annual campaigns and a toolkit of peace-inspired activities for individuals, organizations, communities, and schools, Peacefulness spreads awareness of the power of thought. As Peacefulness Outreach Coordinator, Negin brings this vision to diverse groups, inspiring sensitivity to how we influence our shared world and empowering communities to live with greater peace and purpose.
VISION We envision Beaverton, Ontario, as a beacon of peace and wellbeing, where individuals are empowered to reach their full potential. Our community thrives as a tapestry of inspired people who together create harmonious homes, schools, businesses, and governance. Locally and globally, we commit to embodying and spreading unity and peace. MISSION Our mission is to nurture a culture of peace that honors our shared humanity and connection to all life. We partner with citizens and leaders from diverse fields to create initiatives, programs, and services that foster lasting peace and holistic wellbeing for society and the Earth. Each day at 9 PM EST, we unite virtually in a shared Intention for Peace and Universal Love, radiating from our hearts to the world.
In every facet of our community—whether in the arts, environment, education, civic initiatives, or spiritual and cultural organizations—we recognize and honor the interconnectedness of all life. Our aim is to weave the values of Heartfulness and peace into each endeavor, contributing to the well-being of society and the communities we are called to serve. This path invites us to grow ever more sensitive and open to new learnings, to live with greater gentleness and compassion, and to hold reverence for all life—in harmony with one another, all beings, and our shared environment.

"A culture of peace is a set of values, attitudes, traditions and modes of behavior and ways of life based on respect for life, ending of violence and promotion and practice of non-violence through education, dialogue and cooperation. Tenets include: Full respect for and promotion of all human rights and fundamental freedoms; Commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts; Efforts to meet the developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations; Respect for and promotion of the right to development; Respect for and promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; Respect for and promotion of the right of everyone to freedom of expression, opinion and information; Adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, pluralism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations; and fostered by an enabling national and international environment conducive to peace." In addition, the Golden Rule - "Do for others as you would have them do for you" -- provides a unity proposition for personal, local and global peace.
