Plymouth Massachusetts is where the Mayflower came ashore 400 years ago, bring with it English pilgrims who helped found our nation. It is the home of "Plymouth Rock" which has become a foundational American symbol of religious freedom and civil liberty. It has also been a home for immigrants from the Pilgrims to the present day. The community has welcomed visitors and new residents since 1620. It is where history has recorded the first "Thanksgiving", a feast at which both the indigenous tribes and the pilgrims sat down together to share what each had with the other. It continues to be celebrated with parades, days of prayers, and gatherings in homes and restaurants. It is home to the Pilgrim Hall Museum which is the oldest continually operating museum in the United States. It was home to the Cordage Company which was the largest manufacturer of rope and twine in the world, in operation for over 140 years. It was not just a company, it was a community founded on the philosophy that a happy worker who is well cared for makes a better employee. That founding principle has permeated the Plymouth community for many years in the form of new industries, tourism, government, schools, and charitable organizations. It is home of Plimoth Pawtuxet Museum, a joint venture of both the Wampanoag people and the community to portray life in the early days of the founding of the Plimoth colony and its relationship with the indigenous people.
The town of Plymouth continues to grow in population from many parts of the world and with varied economic gains and challenges. The Community has realized to achieve peace and prosperity for all its visitors and residents, it has to come from within us. The Select Board has already endorsed our endeavor by approving our Proclamation. Our organization will continue to grow its mission thru town organizations such as No Place for Hate, the Noontime and Sunrise Rotary Clubs, the Chamber Commerce, the YMCA, the Plymouth Public Library Foundations, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Plymouth Area League of Women Voters to name a few of the community groups that have embraced our vision. By working together, these community groups will benefit the entire Plymouth area and our residents and we strive for inclusivity, prosperity, and peace for all.
For our first year, out goal is to have a celebration of the International Day of Peace on September 21st. We hope to plant peace poles around the community. We will continue to add supporters from additional community groups to our mission. We plan to involve the Plymouth School System in planning programs for their students.

Tenets include: Full respect for and promotion of all human rights and fundamental freedoms; Commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts; Efforts to meet the developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations; Respect for and promotion of the right to development; Respect for and promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; Respect for and promotion of the right of everyone to freedom of expression, opinion and information; Adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, pluralism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations; and fostered by an enabling national and international environment conducive to peace." In addition, the Golden Rule - "Do for others as you would have them do for you" -- provides a unity proposition for personal, local and global peace.
