Heartfulness Toronto is part of the Heartfulness Institute, a global nonprofit organization promoting a heart-based meditation practice. Established in Canada in 1974, it has grown to include multiple meditation centres across Canada, with a significant presence in the Greater Toronto Area. The Toronto Meditation Centre, inaugurated on January 24, 2015, by Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), the Global Guide of the Heartfulness Movement, serves as a key hub for practitioners. The centre offers weekly group meditation sessions on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 9:00 AM, as well as individual sittings on Saturday mornings. Heartfulness Toronto hosts free meditation sessions, including in-person and online group meditations, with centres across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario including Ottawa. We also offer a daily 15-minute Universal Peace Meditation online at 9:00 PM ET, along with other Heartfulness Centres in Canada and the US. These meditation sessions, open to all backgrounds, help participants reduce stress, enhance emotional intelligence, and foster inner peace. The organization also offers yoga programs combining gentle asanas, breathing, and meditation to promote self-awareness and spiritual growth. Special events, such as the 2024 Heartfulness Seminar with Daaji, celebrated 50 years of the practice in Canada, attracting over 1000 attendees. Additionally, Heartfulness Toronto organizes youth seminars, spiritual retreats, and more. The practice, backed by over 100 years of tradition, is supported by a global network of trainers and an app, offering free resources like relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, and self-development resources. Testimonials highlight benefits such as reduced anxiety, improved relationships, and enhanced well-being. Heartfulness Toronto is active on social media, with a following of over 1,800 members, emphasizing its inclusive, volunteer-driven mission to uplift communities through heart-centered practices.

Ryan Sequeira began his journey with Heartfulness in July 2008. His interest in spirituality started at a young age, and he was fortunate to work with a colleague who happened to be a certified Heartfulness trainer. He travelled to India several times to gain further experience from the third and fourth living guides of Heartfulness, then wanted to give back and was granted permission to serve as a certified Heartfulness meditation trainer in December 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto, and currently works as an Investigator with a non-profit organization in the education sector. He loves spending time with his wife and children, as well as extended family. When he is not spending time with family, he can be found spending time mentoring seekers of spirituality, coordinating events and activities for the Heartfulness community, or spending time in nature.
Yes, I approve the guidelines for an International City of Peace and will provide four or more additional approved signatures of community Peace Team members (see next registration field). "A culture of peace is a set of values, attitudes, traditions and modes of behavior and ways of life based on respect for life, ending of violence and promotion and practice of non-violence through education, dialogue and cooperation. Tenets include: Full respect for and promotion of all human rights and fundamental freedoms; Commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts; Efforts to meet the developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations; Respect for and promotion of the right to development; Respect for and promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; Respect for and promotion of the right of everyone to freedom of expression, opinion and information; Adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, pluralism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations; and fostered by an enabling national and international environment conducive to peace." In addition, the Golden Rule - "Do for others as you would have them do for you" -- provides a unity proposition for personal, local and global peace.
