Medina of Tanger (Tangier), Morocco
447th International City of Peace
Caring for the most vulnerable — including animals
Medina is the old walled City within Tangier, Morocco, with over 170,000 people and an overpopulation of animals — which the new International City of Peace is determined to provide care. Liaison Salima “Sally” Kadaoui is Founder and President, SFT Animal Sanctuary, with Laura Formentini of the Garden of Peace in Tanger, ss well as signatories: veterinarian Lahrech Mohamed Chakib and Board Member, Nouzha Bakkali, Board member. Salima’s mission: to spread love by being love—one soul, one act of compassion at a time. “What started with a few injured dogs on the street has now grown into SFT Animal Sanctuary, the largest in Morocco, where hundreds of dogs, cats, donkeys, and other animals are rescued, healed, and loved. Our work goes beyond animal welfare. It is about peace in action. It is about showing children how to care, teaching communities that compassion is strength, and reminding the world that love is a force capable of transforming the darkest suffering into something hopeful and alive.”
