449th International City of Peace

Tanke community of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria
Traditional Government and Peacemakers, Together

Photo: “the family compound of the Alangua, the traditional head of the Tanke community. It is a historical residence that has housed both past and present Alanguas (the community head, who is in the photo with the white collar). The family is the only family in Ilorin appointed to the position of Alangua by the Emir of Ilorin (the King of Ilorin). The primary Liaison between this community and the association of International Cities of Peace is Bolarin Najeeb Haroon (on the right), a PhD candidate in Peace and Security Studies at Al-Hikmah University, with a Master’s in the same field. We commend Mr. Bolarin for unifying peace and respecting traditional government as a unified City of Peace.
