Respect for and effective application of all Human Rights
La Rioja was founded as City of All Saints of New Rioja (Ciudad de Todos los Santos de Nueva Rioja) is the capital and largest city of La Rioja Province, Argentina, located in the east of the province. The city and its eponymous province are named after La Rioja, a region in Spain. The new Liaison between the City of La Rioja and the association of International Cities of Peace is Alicia Corominas, a strong promoter and peace ambassador for the Thousand Millenniums of Peace Foundation (Mil Milenios de Paz) with founder Inés Palomeque. Ms. Corominas specifies practical goals and objectives for Rioja: “I consider it essential to disseminate the values, principles, and foundations of the Culture of Peace to eradicate all forms of violence. Respect for and effective application of all Human Rights is urgent. In short, my goal is to promote a community that is aware of the need to live in peace at the individual, family, and social levels, adopting the guiding principles that generate appropriate attitudes and behaviors.”
