458th International City of Peace

A City of Destiny on the Puget Sound

A vibrant city situated on the Puget Sound, home to around 225,000 Tacomans, the community represents many different races and ethnicities and is home to the Puyallup tribe among other Native American peoples. “…I believe our destiny as the City of Destiny is to lead with peace, justice, and inclusivity,” writes Ms. Ji Yon Kim, who was born in South Korea but for 13 years has lived, taught at the Annie Wright School, and raised four children in her beloved community, Tacoma. “The International Cities of Peace initiative inspires me because it aligns with my values of community, education, and empowering youth to be changemakers.” Congratulations to the Kim family and to the Annie Wright School, which is one of the inspirations for this new, 458th City of Peace. The world is with you.
