Comforting Orhpan Transforming and Empowering with Sustainable Aid ( COTESA) was founded in march 2022 by CLAUDE NIYONIZERA in the response to the growing need for support among vulnerable populations in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, isingiro district, western region in the Republic of Uganda.The organization was established to address the impact of conflicts and displacement on orphaned children, women and youths with a focus on empowering and promoting peace, understanding and conflict resolution in our community.
Our vision:Empowering orphaned children, women and youths to become Self sufficient, independent and confident with access to quality education, healthcare and economic opportunities, fostering peaceful and resilient community. Our mission: Transform lives of Orphaned children, women and youths affected by conflicts through holistic care, education, economic empowerment, peace building and conflict resolution, fostering culture of peace, stability and Sustainable development in our community and beyond.
Ou practical goals and objectives include: Providing holistic care and support to orphaned children, women and youths; Offering education and skills development opportunities; Promoting economic empowerment through sustainable livelihoods; Fostering peace building and conflict resolution initiatives; to establish sports and recreation programs to promote team work;to provide leaderships training and mentorship programs for young people; promote gender equality and women's empowerment; fostering partnerships and collaborations with local and international organizations; encouraging community cohesion and social harmony and peace building capacity for community led-initiatives.

As the founder and Chairperson of Comforting orphan Transformig and Empowering with Sustainable Aid COTESA a dynamic Refugee -led community ommunity Based Organization in Nakivale refugee settlement, in Uganda I have been living in Uganda for 7 years, I, CLAUDE NIYONIZERA, leverage my experience as Burundian refugee committed to drive transformative change in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda.With a passion for peace building, conflict resolution education and economic empowerment. I lead Comforting orphan Transformig and Empowering with Sustainable Aid COTESA’s mission to empower orphaned children, women and youths through holistic care, education and economic empowerment, while promoting peace, stability and Sustainable development through peace building initiatives, conflict resolution and community cohesion.
Yes, I approve the guidelines for an International City of Peace and will provide four or more additional approved signatures of community Peace Team members (see next registration field). "A culture of peace is a set of values, attitudes, traditions and modes of behavior and ways of life based on respect for life, ending of violence and promotion and practice of non-violence through education, dialogue and cooperation. Tenets include: Full respect for and promotion of all human rights and fundamental freedoms; Commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts; Efforts to meet the developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations; Respect for and promotion of the right to development; Respect for and promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; Respect for and promotion of the right of everyone to freedom of expression, opinion and information; Adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, pluralism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations; and fostered by an enabling national and international environment conducive to peace." In addition, the Golden Rule - "Do for others as you would have them do for you" -- provides a unity proposition for personal, local and global peace.
