468th International City of Peace
The Transformative Power of Youth

MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICA. “Thank you again,” new ICP Liaison Zakaria el Hamel writes, “for your support and for the inspiring work of the International Cities of Peace in advancing peace around the world. We are honored to be part of this global family working together for a more peaceful future.” Zakaria is a dedicated human rights and peace activist in Oujda, Morocco, which has a population of 1/2 million. He and a collaboration of young Moroccans are intent on practical actions led by their visionary group, Youth for Peace & Dialogue Between Cultures. Like many cities, Oujda faces youth unemployment, social inequality, and low civic participation, and this group’s initiatives will drive positive change. “I have seen the transformative power,” writes Zakaria, “of empowering citizens to take active roles in creating safer and more inclusive societies.” Free Services from International Cities of Peace can help them Transform Oujda, Morocco as a true City of Peace. We are with you!
